Bookpresentation: Churning the Earth
Buchvorstellung: Churning the Earth
In Churning the Earth, Shrivastava and Kothari show how India’s economic growth has damaged the ecological life-support of hundreds of millions of people. It has created or worsened conflicts over water, land and natural resources, and increased the rich-poor gap. The book is a detailed critique of India’s development strategy, and argues for a radical ecological democracy based on the principles of environmental sustainability, social equity and livelihood security. It also presents several examples already moving towards such a future.
